Crises: Attahiru Establishes Foundation For Humanity
BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – Determined to cushion the problems that arose following insecurity crises in some parts of the country, a philanthropist, Alhaji Aliyu Sidi Attahiru has launched a foundation, Asattahir International Foundation aimed at facilitating conflict resolution and peace building in the society.
Speaking to newsmen at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), shortly after receiving the certificate of incorporation, Attahiru said the decision to register the foundation was borne out of his renewed commitment to serve humanity.
The foundation, according to him, is a culmination of various philanthropic and humanitarian services and endeavours in support of different categories of people in the society.
He appreciated the support and encouragement he received from friends, family members and associates, which culminated in the establishment of the foundation and assured members of the public that this platform would be wrapped in the flag for humanitarian courses.
Attahiru said the foundation is to enhance and facilitate people’s empowerment, particularly the less privileged and vulnerable persons across the strata of the society.
He further said; “It is to provide support to the less privileged people in critical areas of need such as Health care, Education and Nutrition. It would provide and or facilitate the evolution of employment schemes for women, youth as well as Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).”
Attahiru also said that the project is to support and collaborate with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to facilitate the attainment of their objectives in humanitarian activities.
Attahiru explained that the idea was conceived to implement community development programs and projects that have direct and decisive impact on the less privileged people in the society.
He further said that it would support and encourage the provision of structural and institutional framework for quality Islamic Education in decent and most appropriate atmosphere in the society.
In his words; “The foundation is to initiate, enhance and champion awareness campaign for the evolution of morally upright society through lectures, workshops, seminars, symposiums and periodic ‘moral Talks’ targeting different categories of people in the society.”
