Eid-El Adha: Bauchi FRSC Deploys 1,410, Regular, Special Marshall, Groups

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – As part of efforts towards ensuring a hitch-free 2023 Eid-El Kabir celebrations and effective visibility, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has deployed operatives to the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.

As a prelude, the Sector Command has embarked on a one-week special operations for the 2023 Eid-El-Kabir Sallah celebration to ensure a crash free festival.

According to Yusuf Abdullahi, Sector Commander of FRSC, the special operations will run from Monday, June 26 to July 1, 2023 adding that the operations will be carried out on 24/7 basis during which 1,010 officers and men as well as Special Marshalls would be deployed in addition to 400 volunteers comprising Roads Safety Youth Islamic Groups.

Abdullahi said that the equipment and logistics deployed for the operations include 25 Vehicles and 20

ambulances as support from the State Ministry of Health.

Similarly, he said that 15 recovery vans, three heavy recovery vans, 10 medium and 15 light vehicles as well as five extricating machines, 10 breathelyzer/alcoholizer machines and 400 manual have been deployed while two roadside clinics will be operated.

The FRSC also said that activities lined up for the special operations include aggressive public enlightenment in motor park, religious centres, central Mosques, prayer grounds and schools adding that there will be collaboration with other sister security agencies, roads transport unions, media, FERMA, Federal and State Ministry of Works and Housing, health service providers, Government and Private hospitals and clinics, clergy and traders as well as construction companies.

The Commission assured that there will be prompt response to RTC victims, adequate and effective information management, intelligence gathering, data collection and analysis.

It also said that during the period, there would be enforcement, routine rescue standby, 24/7 ambulance service points on the five major routes across the state, adding that daily traffic offenders public enlightenment will be sustained just as Mobile Court will be in session to prosecute offenders.

The FRSC advised residents to make use of free toll numbers that have been fully activated (112 and 122) for emergencies.
