BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Friday warned against reprisal attacks, just as he assured the families of victims of banditry in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kaura and Jema’a local government areas of justice.
According to a statement signed by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, El-Rufai disclosed to families of victims that the government has set up a committee to meet with them and update them on arrests that have been made, and the ongoing investigations into the attacks.
“The Kaduna State Government will continue to be focused and resolute in pursuit of peace. This includes vigorous punishment and investigation of all those responsible for the killing of innocent citizens across the state.
“Government has equally set up a committee to go round and explain to aggrieved families and communities that the state is committed to ensure justice is done.
“Therefore, the government is requesting that everyone should shun the temptation to indulge in reprisals. Rather every aggrieved person must place their trust in the institutions of law enforcement. The government will not tolerate conduct likely that could jeopardize peace and tranquility throughout the state.
“Citizens in all our communities should continue to exercise the utmost patience and shun provocations. We must continue to work together against all forces of darkness that menace our state and humanity.”
