Relaxes 24 hours curfew, it’s now 6pm to 8am

BY COBHAM NSA – The mayhem and destruction visited on Lagos State by hoodlums that hijacked the #EndSARS protest have made Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu a thoroughly sad and disturbed man.
And making no pretence about, the governor openly confessed that aside his heart bleeding, he is in serious pains after seeing the massive destruction perpetrated by criminal elements in the state on Wednesday and Thursday, October 21 and 22, 2020.
This is as he announced that the State government is relaxing the 24 hours curfew from Saturday, October 24, 2020. The new coverage period now is from 6pm to 8am daily.
Addressing journalists after touring about 30 affected areas across the State, Governor Sanwo-Olu, said it was quite traumatizing seeing the level of destruction to both private and public facilities.
Particularly noting the desecration of the oldest court in Nigeria at Igbosere, he said; “We have not seen this level of destruction before in the state.”
Missing out his high-spirited self, the governor said; “This is not the Lagos that was handed over to me in May 2019. How did we get here? This was supposed to be a peaceful protest.”
He however pleaded with everyone still using the social media to instigate and incite citizens to desist forthwith, saying; “We need to continue to engage and talk to ourselves” going forward.
“Everywhere I went today, people say they want peace, we all want peace, we can not continue to lose our population and our monuments and infrastructure”, the governor said.
After visiting the hospitals treating some of the #EndSARS campaigners injured during Tuesday’s Lekki Toll Gate shootings, Governor Sanwo-Olu promised that the Lagos State government would pick up the medical bills for those injured.
He thereafter disclosed that most of the injured have been treated and discharged from the hospitals while a few others are responding well to treatment.
