BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Nigeria Police on Saturday said that two female suicide bombers died after detonating IEDs against a vehicle on a feeder road, off Maiduguri/Mafa highway, close to NDLEA checkpoint in the outskirt of Maiduguri Township.
It said that only the two female bombers died in the explosion, while eight others, including an NDLEA personnel, sustained injuries and are responding to treatment.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Isuku Victor, who also said that the vehicle, a golf taxi, reg. no XA 479 DRZ, laden with bags of charcoal, two female passengers on board and a Tricycle Keke Napep close to the scene were affected by the explosion.
Victor said the explosion scene has since been made safe by the Police EOD team and normalcy restored to the area.
