The Nigerian Army said its troops of Defence Company, 27 Brigade, on Operation LAFIYA DOLE deployed at Kamuya, in conjunction with local vigilante, exchanged fire with some members of Boko Haram terrorists that abducted six persons.

It said that during the exchange of fire, troops successfully neutralized two of the terrorists and rescued the abducted persons.

A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman said the development followed reports received from some herdsmen that members of Boko Haram terrorists invaded their village and abducted six people.

Usman said troops, in conjunction with villagers familiar with the area, trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village which was about 20 kilometres away Kamuya.

He said the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, adding that the rescued persons have been reunited with their family.
