FG Begins Training For Social Investment Programs In Taraba

BY AMEH IDUJAGI, JALINGO – The Federal Government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Monday commenced training of Independent Monitors for the National Social Investment programme in Taraba State.

The Minister in-charge of the ministry, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, who flagged off the training, urged the monitors to pay attention so as to successfully carry out their assignment at the end.

Farouq said that President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to using the social investment programmes in lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next three years and therefore tasked the beneficiaries to be committed to making it a reality.

Represented by Mr Silas Wuya, the Chief of Administration in the Ministry, Farouq said; “I want to urge you all to pay attention to the training so as to succeed at the end of the day in doing the job well for the benefit of the people of the state”.

The Minister listed the social investment programmes as school feeding programme, N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer among others.

The Taraba Focal Person for the social investment programme, Mrs Beatrice Kichina, said that the people of the state have benefited from the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programmes.

Kichina while commending the minister for coming up with laudable policies that were very beneficial to the people of the state and the nation, charged the monitors not to compromise when they eventually commenced the assignment after the training for the good of the people of the state.

Also speaking, the state manager, school feeding programme, Alhaji Idris Goje said that the ministry did not disburse funds for the sustenance of the programme in the state since February 2020, thereby grounding all the activities .

According to Goje, the training of the independent monitors will have no meaningful impact if funds are not disbursed for the sustenance of the programme.

Similarly, the Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) for Taraba State, Mr Bitrus Nyaama, noted that agency would continue to monitor everyone involved in the social investment programme including the independent monitors to enhance success.
