Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State and later Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Solomon Ewuga, is dead.

Senator Ewuga, a respected leader in the Middle Belt, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 70 after a prolonged illness.

Ewuga, who represented Nasarawa North in the 7th National Assembly, had a career that spanned decades of public service that was marked by commitment, resilience and political versatility.

He rose to prominence as Deputy Governor under former Governor Abdullahi Adamu, before was appointed as Minister of State for the FCT by President Olusegun Obasanjo, during which he contributed to the development of the nation’s capital.

His legislative tenure in the Senate further deepened his influence, particularly as a voice for Nasarawa North, the North-central geo-political zone and the country at large.

In December 2023, Ewuga defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), thereby ending his years of association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), underscoring his relevance and adaptability in a dynamic political environment.

Beyond politics, Senator Ewuga was widely respected for his statesmanship and his role in shaping Nasarawa’s political history.

Until his death, Ewuga was a respected elder stateman in Nasarawa and the Middle Belt political landscape.
