An Academic, and Pro-Chancellor of Prime University, Kuje, Abuja, Dr Kabir Kabo Usman, has declared that good moral upbringing of children at home, skills acquisition and teaching the youths on how to be gainfully employed or self-reliant, will facilitate national development.
Dr Kabo Usman, who is also a Manpower Development Expert, therefore advised Parents to pay more attention to the good moral upbringing of their wards.
He also tasked Education Policy Makers to prioritise the teachings of science and technical education in our institutions of learning.
He noted that in some of the socioeconomically developed countries, parents usually inculcate patriotism and good behaviours in their children at home, who are also imparted with knowledge especially of science and technology in schools.
Dr Kabo Usman, who stated these in an address presented on his behalf at the 2025 Graduation Ceremony and 10th anniversary of Al-Noor Academy at Wuse II, Abuja last weekend, described education, especially science and technology, as a key driver for economic growth and social development.
In the address presented by Malam Mustapha Badamasi Atiku, Bursar of Prime University, Abuja, Dr Kabo, a former lecturer, Head of Department and Director of Curriculum at Manchester University in the United Kingdom, emphasized the need for Nigeria to align with the global trend.

The former Director General of the Centre for Management Development (CMD), from 2010 to 2018, also said that while he noted and appreciated the large population of youths in Nigeria, however, stressed the need for them to be trained with skills to become productive members of society in order to serve as antidotes to the current societal ills such as unemployment, kidnapping, banditry and unrest affecting the nation.
Dr Kabo, who is the current Director General of the International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education (ICICE) (the custodians of Al-Noor Mosque), Wuse II, in Abuja, said he is always passionate about education and recalled that a former South African President, Nelson Mandela, was reported to have said that “education is the only thing that can change anything”.
He also quoted a Pan-Africanist, Ghana’s first Prime Minister, Kwame Nkrumah who once said “education makes us tolerant and humble”.
In his own speech, the Chairman of Al-Noor Academy Governing Board, Dr. Ibrahim Dada, acknowledged the Academy’s perseverance through challenges, which he said ‘strengthened its foundation.
“This milestone is a celebration of excellence, resilience, and purpose. I urge our graduating students to seek knowledge endlessly and strive to impact their communities and the world,” he said.
The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad (a Professor of Science Education) presented prizes and awards to outstanding students, serving and former staff of the Institution recognized for excellence, character, and dedicated service.
A statement by Mallam Abdulkadir Ahmed Ibrahim, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Dr Kabir Kabo, noted that established 10 years ago under the International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education (ICICE), within the premises of Al-Noor Mosque at Wuse II, Abuja, Al-Noor Academy integrates conventional education, Islamic teachings, Tahfeez (Qur’anic memorization), and adult literacy in its curriculums.
