Gov. Aiyedatiwa Declared Winner Of Ondo APC Governorship Primary
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Election Committee, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State has declared Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the winner of Party’s Governorship primary election which held on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
The Party Primary election which was conducted in the 203 Wards in the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, showed that Governor Aiyedatiwa won in 16 out of the 18 Local Government Areas by scoring 48, 569 votes to defeat 15 other contestants.
The APC Primary election was observed by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission led by Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, who is the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State.
While declaring the result of the Party Primary at the Dome International Event Centre, Alagbaka-Akure, Governor Ododo said that Governor Aiyedatiwa having won the highest number of votes cast, was declared winner of the election.
Ododo declared; “By the power conferred on the committee, and in line with APC guide lines for the nomination of the candidate, of the party in the general election, I Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State and the Chairman of the Committee and the Returning Officer of the Ondo State APC governorship primary election, held on the 20th, 2024, hereby declared that Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest numbers of votes cast in the direct primary election, is hereby return elected and declare winner.”
The APC chairman of the Primary Election Committee also read the results of the other contestants as follows: Mayowa Akinfolarin – 15,343, Olusola Oke – 14,915, Jimoh Ibrahim – 9,456, Wale Akinterinwa – 1,952, Isaac Kekemeke – 1,045, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo – 529, Olusoji Ehinlanwo – 492, Jimi Odimayo – 490, Ifeoluwa Oyedele – 462, Olamide Ohunyeye – 424, Gbenga Edema – 395, Francis Faduyile – 353, Morayo Lebi – 290, and Funke Omogoroye – 115.
Governor Ododo also announced that the total number of voters was 171, 922 while accredited voters stood at 95178 which equalled with the total vote cast that was also 95178 just as valid votes was 95178 with no invalid vote recorded.
Ododo, who was flanked by the Secretary of the committee, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and other members of the committee said that reports from the field revealed that the primary election went on peacefully, adding that at the end of the exercise, votes were counted and recorded.
