Gov Mbah Lauds DSS For Arresting High-Profile Kidnap Suspects
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has commended the Department of State Services (DSS), whose operatives arrested five high-profile kidnappers operating in forests across the State.
The high profiled kidnap suspects are believed to be part of a gang that has been terrorizing Udi local government area and other parts of the State.
However, operatives of the DSS, acting on credible intelligence, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, traced the kidnappers to their hideouts in two separate locations in Enugu State
It was gathered that the arrested kidnappers have confessed to collecting huge sums of money as ransom from the relatives of their victims.
It was further gathered that the other three suspects who are key members of another kidnap gang, were arrested on Friday, March 14, 2025 within the State Capital.
Among items recovered from the kidnappers at the point of arrest at the site suspected kidnappers were hibernating included large sums of money, being proceeds of their illicit activities, lethal weapons and other dangerous objects.
Governor Mbah having been briefed on the details of the notorious gangs, and in recognition of the covert nature of Service, restrained from further specifics.
The Governor noted that the DSS in conjunction with the military, police and other security agencies as well as the State-owned Forest Guards, have put in place measures for continuous crackdown on other fleeing gang members as well as raiding their hideouts and camps in the forests.
