Governor Lalong Not in Self-Isolation, as Plateau Closes Borders
BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – The Plateau state Government has denied as unfounded claims in some quarters that Governor Simon Bako Lalong has gone into self-isolation for fear that he may have come in contact with cases of the raging Covid-19.
The state government declared that Governor Lalong is hail, hearty, stressing that he is upbeat as the Chairman of the State Task Force on the implementation and monitoring of the state anti-Corona pandemic campaign.
Giving an update on the measures put in place since Tuesday to keep the pandemic out of the state, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Danladi Atu did not only confirm the status of the governor on Corona, but also announced that with effect from Sunday March 29, all borders into the state will be closed from 6pm to 7am of the next day.
As part of the additional measures put in place with effect from Sunday March 29, Atu said every tricycle will henceforth carry only one passenger at a time, while private and commercial saloon cars will not carry more than four persons including the driver, while buses are to convey a maximum of six persons at a time.
Atu warmed that; “The government takes exception to the nonchalance and flagrant disregard of the directives by some individuals and groups who have remained recalcitrant. Nobody is above the law and the government is already taking necessary action.” The SSG appealed to members of the public to continue to cooperate with the government as it work together to ensure that it protects the lives of the people.
