Gunmen Abduct Private Varsity Students In Kaduna
BY EDMOND ODOK – Less than 24 hours after Governor Nasir El-Rufai canvassed death sentence for all bandits, unknown gunmen struck and abducted unspecified students of Green Field University located along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
Reports in the media and confirmed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said students of the privately-owned institution came under attack by some dare-devil bandits on Tuesday night.

It was gathered from eyewitness’ accounts that the gunmen had invaded the university and shot sporadically before whisking some of the students away. So far, reports said the number of students abducted still remained unknown.
Governor el-Rufai, who spoke at a dialogue: “Financing Safe Schools: Creating Safe Learning Communities” in Abuja early on Tuesday had said the only way to put an end to banditry in the country is for the military to bomb the forests where they are hiding and eliminate them completely
Established three years ago in January 2019, Greenfield University is the first private university in Kaduna State, Nigeria, and it commenced full academic activities for the 2018/19 session in May 2019. It is located at Kilometre 34, Kasarmi Village, Abuja – Kaduna – Zaria Express Way, in Chikun Local Government Area.
This latest attack is the first major incident of banditry around the Kaduna-Abuja Highway since 300 female soldiers were deployed to man the area in January this year.
