Sack Pantami Now Or… — HURIWA Tells Buhari
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has cautioned that failure by President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali-Pantami will make his administration complicit as a sympathiser of the terrorists’ groups, Al-Queada and Taliban
HURIWA also warned that anything to the contrary will indicate that President Buhari’s love for Pantami’s affinity and endorsement of global jihadist movements is stronger than his love for Nigeria.
In a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, and National Media Affairs Director Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA said; “It is in the interest of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to clear suspicions that it is a sympathiser of international terrorism by sacking Pantami who has admitted espousing the teachings of Al- Queada and Taliban previously.”
Warning that President Buhari would be brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC) if he refuses to do the right thing, the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) said; “patriotic groups could canvass claims that the mass killings of Christians in the North by armed herdsmen and Islamists were tolerated by the President because of his decision to keep a man who had confessed to have backed Al- Queada and Taliban.”
For HURIWA, the time has come for Civil Rights Advocacy movements in Nigeria to petition the United States (US) Congress requesting that President Buhari’s administration be designated as a sympathiser of Al Qaeda and Taliban.
Consequently, the body said there should also be an imposition of specific sanctions on the President and his Cabinet ministers for accommodating Pantami and their obvious indifference to the feelings of Nigerians on the matter.
According to the statement, the only way Nigerians can heave a sigh of relief is for the President to dismiss Pantami from the Federal Executive Council (FEC)
