- Says no cause for alarm, demands INEC respect court’s ruling
- Urges supporters to remain calm, law abiding
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has described Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s omission of his name from the final list of candidates cleared for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State as a mere ‘temporary challenge’ in the electoral process
Breaking his silence on the shock exclusion from final gubernatorial list, Prof Pantami assured his supporters that efforts were underway to resolve the issue, blaming those he described as saboteurs and opposing forces working behind the scenes to thwart his aspiration.
With the unexpected development already sparking widespread concern and raising serious questions among loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Pantamiyya Movement (PM) across Gombe State and its environs, a statement signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed, the movement’s spokesperson, Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe, urged their massive support base to remain calm and optimistic.
The statement emphasized that the current omission is merely a temporary setback and does not represent a final decision on the matter, adding: “We are aware of the people working behind the scenes to frustrate good and responsible leadership in Gombe State”.
Furthermore, the statement disclosed that its legal and liaison teams are engaging with relevant organs of the PDP and INEC to secure compliance with the court order and ensure that the omission is corrected within the period allowed by law.
The statement, which struck a defiant and optimistic tone, expressed absolute confidence that the crisis would be resolved swiftly and called supporters to intensify their grassroots mobilization and stay fiercely loyal to the movement’s foundational ideology of human service.
Underscoring this resilience, the statement emphasized that the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement stand locked in a united front, fully committed to championing the political aspirations of their supporters across the state.
Faced with the mounting stakes, the Camp declared absolute unity in the battle to rescue the North-East state’s political future, and clear the path for an aggressive upcoming campaign, assuring that: “No distraction will derail our course, in sha Allah”.
