Gyang Tasks Electorate On Sustainable Projects

BY AHMED TUKUR, JOS – Senator Istifanus Gyang, has challenged Nigerian electorates to judiciously utilise social amenities provided them for sustainable growth and development within their communities.

He said such positive attitude will ensure that efforts at alleviating poverty and improving the welfare of citizens are fruitful.

Senator Gyang gave the charge while flagging off the drilling of borehole in Baba Anya lm community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The lawmaker said the borehole project became necessary given the community’s pressing need for water, noting that; “Though the community lives within the State capital’s city centre, yet it lacks basic portable water.”

Gyang, who was represented by his Special Adviser, Hajiya Nafisa Oma, said the urgent need to alleviate the people’s suffering informed citing the borehole at Baba Anya.

He however called for patience and understanding as other communities would soon benefits from projects already pencilled down for execution.

The community’s youth leader, Sani Yusuf, urged politicians to always provide the people with social amenities that would positively impact their lives.

He said lamented that the community was abandoned for years without portable water, which is one of its numerous problems, adding; “We did not present any written request to the Senator, but his people only called to inform us that he will be drilling borehole, and we are indeed grateful for this gesture.”

Yusuf said politicians, elected or appointed, should always provide social amenities that would positively impact the lives of the poor masses, pledging that they will consciously ensure the project is utilised sustainably.

In his remarks, the Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Jos North, Alhaji Hassan Shehu Maihula, an elder in the community, assured the Senator of judicious utilisation of the borehole.

“A major problems of our community clinic is lack of water, and we are happy the borehole is close to the clinic, besides the fact that members of the community would easily access water”, he said
