Following the recent hike in the pump price of petrol, leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), are meeting with the Federal Government.

Checks by Forefront News indicated that meeting which is taking place at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, is centered on what has become a monthly increase in the pump price of petrol, astronomical increase in electricity tariff which is yet to be addressed and the hardship being faced by Nigerians as a result of the policies of the Federal Government.

It was gathered that the Labour leaders are particularly concerned that the NNPC Ltd is allowed to maintain an intermediary role which was deliberate in order to increase the cost of petrol.

The organized Labour are also accusing the Federal Government of not adhering and keeping to the terms of agreement entered into during the negotiation for the minimum wage increase which was pegged at N70,000 as minimum wage which is yet to be implemented.

In attendance at the Wednesday’s meeting are Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Advise (NSA), Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information, and Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour Minister;
