Former Governor of Kano State and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied ever giving his approval to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other members of the opposition party to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso, who is the national leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, categorically said that he did not endorse or supported the planned defection of Governor Yusuf to the APC.
These were contained in a statement by Saifullahi Hassan, Media Aide to Kwankwaso while reacting to a report by Premium Times in which it claimed that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has endorsed or supported the alleged defection of the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement stated; ‘’We wish to state unequivocally that this report is false, misleading, and entirely without factual basis.
“Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), remains fully committed to the ideals, vision, and principles of the party. “Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was elected Governor of Kano State on the platform of the NNPP and remains a member of the party, with an obligation to uphold the mandate freely given to him by the people.
“At no time did Senator Kwankwaso endorse, support, or express approval of any alleged move by Governor Yusuf to the APC.
“Any report suggesting otherwise is a deliberate misrepresentation of facts and should be treated with utmost skepticism.
“We therefore urge members of the public, party supporters, and the media to disregard this misinformation and rely only on verified and credible sources for accurate information,” it stated.
