Ikulu People Donate Relief Materials To IDP Camps
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – The Ikulu Development Association (IDA) in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State recently donated relief materials to the two Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps in Zonkwa and Samaru Kataf towns.
While distributing the items to the IDPs, the President of the IDA, Mr. Bature Likoro, said the gesture was necessitated by the suffering being encountered by the displaced people.
He noted that the Ikulu people feel the pains of the IDPs and deemed it fit to be their brother’s keeper by providing the relief materials.
“We are here to express our heartfelt sympathy over what has befallen our brothers and sisters. As people bonded by love for humanity, we have come to donate some items to cushion the pains of displacements. We pray that the Almighty God will hasten the day of peace and resolve all the issues that are militating against us as a people,” Mr. Likoro said.
Calling on the Kaduna State Government headed by Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai, the IDA President appealed on the state governor to take proactive measures and tackle the challenges of insecurity ravaging the state.
“Let me use this opportunity to call on Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai to deploy proactive measures in tackling the security challenges ravaging the state. Efforts should be channeled towards providing relief materials for the IDPs in order to cushion the sufferings being encountered by them,” he added.
A representative of the IDPs extolled the brotherly kindness displayed by the Ikulu people in reaching out to them in the hour of their needs. He prayed God to bless the IDA for such a kind gesture.
Some of the relief materials donated to the two camps by the IDA included blankets, bags of rice, salt, beans, maize, and guinea corn. Others were cartons of seasoning, soap, packs of spaghetti and used clothes.
