INEC Boss Promises Credible Anambra Guber Polls

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu has assured that everything is in place for the conduct of credible, free and fair Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 18, 2017.

Mahmood, who gave the assurance at a Forum organized by INEC with stakeholders for the Anambra governorship election in Awka, announced that the distribution of non-sensitive materials would commence on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

He however said all the sensitive materials would arrive Anambra State through Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Thursday, adding; “I will like to use this opportunity to declare as untrue the earlier claim by some people that sensitive materials for this election were uncovered in a hotel in Awka.”

The INEC boss also said after arriving through the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, “the sensitive materials will be escorted like money to Awka by the Central Bank escort team on Thursday.”
