BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – The Chairman of the Plateau State traditional council and Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba, on Tuesday expressed happiness that the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), especially under the present leadership of Sir Joseph Ari as Director General, has become one of the most strongest and viable federal government agencies.

The traditional ruler specifically said that under Sir Ari, the ITF has been contributing greatly to drive the economy, saying that its skills acquisition and empowerment progammes have been pivotal in catalyzing the federal government’s employment and wealth creation initiatives.

He also said that with appropriate legislative check, the organisation which has proved its worth will surely do better.

The Gbong Gwom also canvassed legislations and policy options that will address and nip subsisting national security challenges in the bud.

Buba, who noted that almost all parts of the country are plagued by one form of insecurity or the order, said the situation calls for collaborative efforts and innovative thinking to tinker the means of public administration and stem the heightening trend of crime in the country.

The traditional ruler stated these in his pace situated in Jishe, Jos North Local Government Area of the State when the House of Representatives Committee on Industry paid him a visit.

Led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Enitan Dolapo Badru, the House members were in Jos to carry out oversight functions at the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), headquarters office.

Badru, who described the Gbong Gwom as a “good man” who has given his best to the country as a public servant and left with impeccable records, commended the traditional ruler for the reign of peace in his domain, and for providing a conducive environment that has facilitated the success story of the ITF.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of the ITF, Joseph Ari, said the Fund would soon be marking its 50 years of existence, adding that it is determined to increase its momentum and strive to play a key role in making the national economy productive and globally competitive.
