Jaiz Bank Gets Global Recognition
- As Most Improved Islamic Bank 2021
BY COBHAM NSA – For the second successive year, Nigeria’s premier non-interest bank, Jaiz Bank Plc, has been decorated as the world’s Most Improved Islamic Bank 2021.
To add this new feather to its cap, the financial institution dusted three other organisations to cart home the honours put together by Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA).
Chairman of GIFA, Professor Humayon Dar said Jaiz Bank’s emergence as the best followed long and robust deliberations based on several factors contained in the GIFA methodology.
Prof Dar therefore applauded the Bank for its impressive performance during the period under review.
Available information indicate that the GIFA methodology for the awards and choice of winners is the “most detailed approach to screen only the best of the best in their respective award categories.”
There are basically three factors considered by GIFA in the selection process. These include Social Responsibility; Shari’ah Authenticity; and Commitment to Islamic Banking and Finance.
According to the Awards Committee, Jaiz Bank easily met all the above prerequisites, hence the basis for its selection as the winner.
Expressing delight at the award, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Jaiz Bank, Hassan Usman appreciated GIFA for once again choosing the organisation as the ‘Most Improved Islamic Bank’ in the world.
Usman said: “Winning the ‘Most Improved Islamic Bank’ award for the second time in a row from the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) is a revalidation of our efforts towards continuous process improvement in serving our customers.
“We truly appreciate the Committee for seeing us worthy of the award. This re-energizes us to even do more, knowing that the world watches and appreciates our modest contributions to the development of Islamic Finance.”

Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFAs) are one of the most prestigious awards in Islamic banking and finance. Other prestigious awards include Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance; and The Royal Award For Islamic Finance, founded by the government of Malaysia.
