EFCC Boss, Bawa Slumps, Recovers In Abuja Hospital
BY EDMOND ODOK – The Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) says its chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, had a temporary health challenge today (Thursday) in Abuja but there is no cause for alarm.
Reports indicated that Bawa was rushed to hospital for medical attention after he suddenly felt sick at a programme held inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In the middle of a speech he was delivering, the EFCC Chairman became a bit dizzy, could not continue, and his legs suddenly gave way as he started walking off the stage.
According to an eyewitness’ account, Bawa was rushed from the hall in company of Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami, to an undisclosed hospital.
EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the incident in a statement titled; “Abdulrasheed Bawa is hale and hearty.”
The anti-graft agency spokesman said; “This clarification became necessary following an incident today September 16, 2021 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat.
“He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk.”
