BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Yakubu Pam has said that the government must ensure that proper justice is done for all to address the in-balance in the security of each tribe and religion in the country.
Rev. Pam, who stated this while condemning the midnight attack and gruesome killings of over 35 Plateau citizens on August 25, 2021 in which houses and churches were torched including a primary school in Kunga of Zangam, a village behind Naraguta village, said the attack was totally unnecessary and uncalled for.
Pam specifically said that what is happening on the Plateau, is a deliberate attempt to annihilate a people, stressing that; “We must stop paying lip service to gratify the whims and caprices of sponsors of bloodletting, not in Plateau or anywhere at all!”
He further said that the scenario is certainly not what we inherit as our cherished heritage, saying that Plateau cannot be turned into a graveyard while we are still alive.
The NCPC boss, who stated these in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Pam Ayuba and made available to Forefront News, said the government must do all within its powers to fish out those behind the killings, adding that the government must realize every citizen has a right to live and must, as an imperative, be treated with fairness.
In the words of Pam; “I dare say in very strong terms, the life of every tribe and kindred is equal before the eyes of God and there is no blue, white, or black blood. All human blood runs in the same vein and is red.
“What is happening on the Plateau, I consider it a deliberate attempt to annihilate a people and we must stop paying lip service to gratify the whims and caprices of sponsors of bloodletting, not in Plateau or anywhere at all!
“I call on the government to be more proactive in securing the lives of its citizens and apprehend the known culprits, serve them with justice and restore hope to the people.
“The act of willful killing rising daily in Plateau state and elsewhere in Nigeria must stop and it should be condemned by all and not be left as if it’s a concern of those reduced as second-class citizens.
“No human being is superior to the other. We all have the same measure and quantity of blood as humans created by God. “We must accept this and live together as one people,” he said.
Pam commiserated with the Plateau governor, the people, and more importantly, the families of the victims affected in the horrible carnage.
The NCPC boss ended by saying; “I am bummed out!”
