The Police Command in Anambra State have confirmed recovering three more bodies from the boat mishap involving a movie cast that Nollywood star Junior Pope Odonwodo got drowned on Wednesday, April 10, 2024

Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga said three more bodies of members of the movie cast have been recovered while some crew members are still yet to be found following the tragic boat accident

Ikenga said in a statement on Friday; “Marine Police of Anambra State Command has recovered bodies of the three remaining victims of the unfortunate boat accident involving a movie cast. Two of the bodies were recovered yesterday 11th April, 2024 while the last was washed in by the tide this morning.”

He further explained that the bodies have been deposited at a morgue in Asaba, Delta State while the Actors’ Guild has also been informed about the recovery.

The Command Spokesman quoted the State’s Police Commissioner, Aderemi Adeoye, as challenging water commuters to be safety conscious while in transit, even as he also said the Police are fast-tracking the investigation into the accident.

Meanwhile, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended the filmmaker, filmmaker Adamma Luke following the outrage among Nigerians, especially Nollywood fans, who believe the incident was preventable if safety checks had been in place during the shooting of the movie titled; “Another Side of Life”.

In a statement suspending Luke, producer of the ill-fated movie, the AGN also placed an indefinite ban on all movie shoots involving riverine areas and boat rides in the country.

According to the statement; “The leadership of the Guild has taken the following decisions: (1) All films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are at this moment suspended indefinitely; and (2) no shoot on all locations Nationwide on Thursday, 11 April 2024”.

Furthermore, the statement signed by AGN president Emeka Rollas said Thursday that “(3)The film titled ‘Another Side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely; (4) No actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice; and (5) While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may their souls rest in peace.”
