BY VICTOR BUORO – After several months of being on his trail, the Federal Government has finally arrested fugitive leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Disclosing government’s successful efforts at the manhunt, Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) told journalists on Tuesday that Kanu was arrested and brought back to Nigeria on Sunday, June 27, 2021.

According to Malami, the arrest followed collaborative efforts between security agencies in Nigeria and the Interpol.

Malami further hinted that Kanu would be taken before the Federal High Court in Abuja for continuation of his trial on charges bordering on terrorism, and treasonable felony.

Others charges include unlawful possession of firearms and management of an unlawful society.

The self anointed IPOB leader has been on the run since jumping bail granted him by the Federal High Court in Abuja over three years ago.
