Kidnappers Release Nasarawa Health Workers After Payment Of N4m Ransom
BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – Three health workers abducted by unknown gunmen terrorizing Toto–Nasarawa road, in Nasarawa state have finally regain their freedom.
Their freedom however came with a price following the payment four million naira ransom.
The unknown gunmen had abducted the three officials of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA), along the Nasarawa-Toto road.
Among the three released officials is a medical doctor from Ondo state, who was in the state for official assignment, one health personnel from
Nasarawa Eggon Local Government and the driver of the Hilux van they were travelling with.
Forefront News gathered that the abductors fired several bullets at the Hilux van before they forcefully took away the health officials in a commando style around Nakuse village of Toto Local Government at about 9.30 in the morning.
The health officials were made to walk for seven hours along the mountains of Nakuse and Gudun karya and kept in the middle of the mountains where they spent three days without food.
It further gathered that the deadly abductors, who speak Hausa fluently, fired several gunshots after collecting the ransom and before releasing their captives to scare threats of security or possible attack.
Toto–Nasarawa Local Government axis has of recent become a serious threat to safety following the activities of kidnappers especially with the tick forest along the mountains.
