Just hours to the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary, about five aspirants from Kogi East Senatorial district have reportedly stepped down for the immediate past Governor of the State, Captain Idris Wada.
Seeking his second and final term as governor, Wada is among the 11 PDP gubernatorial aspirants from Kogi East. The aspirants are 13 in number.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday morning in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, Vice Chairman, Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) and former Minister of State for Health, Architect Gabriel Aduku, said the decision to engage and prevail on other aspirants to collapse their structure and support Wada’s aspirations was in the overall interest of the party and the state.
Aduku, who explained that nine aspirants actually expressed their readiness to step down for Wada, listed five, including the only woman aspirant in the race, Mrs. Grace Iye Adejoh.
He mentioned others that have agreed to back Wada’s candidature as AVM Saliu Atawodi (rtd), Dr Victor Adoji, Mohammed Tetes and Emmanuel Omebije.
