Kogi Women Go Spiritual For Natasha Over Alleged ‘Stolen Mandate’

Following what they considered ‘stolen mandate’ a large number of women in Kogi Central on Wednesday took to the streets to protest against what they described as “injustice” following the outcome of the senatorial election in the district.

The demonstrating women in a white apparels, signifying demonstration against evil in the land, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do justice to their votes and declare Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan as their Senator-elect.

It was gathered that as part of the Ebira tradition, the women dressing in white is carried out at sacred times to invoke the ancestral spirits of war against those who cheat or cause pain on the land.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan had announced her rejection of the declaration of Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as winner of the February 25, 2023 senatorial election for Kogi Central following alleged irregularities.

While announcing the results of the election on Tuesday, the INEC Returning Officer for Kogi Central Senatorial District, Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, declared that Sadiku-Ohere of the APC was returned as duly elected having polled the majority votes to beat Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the PDP.
