LP Crisis: Court Fixes May 12 For Abure’s Objection
Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja has fixed May 12 to rule on a preliminary objection filed by the embattled National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure and others.
The other respondents in the case are the National Secretary, Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim, Clement Ojukwu and Oluchi Opara.
Justice Muazu adjourned the matter until May 12 after listening to the submissions of their counsel in the matter.
At the resumed hearing, counsel for the first and second respondents, Alex Ejesieme (SAN), informed the court that he had filed an application dated April 13, 2023 on the matter.
According to him, the application is seeking to challenge the jurisdiction of the Court to adjudicate in the matter brought before it by the claimants.
He informed the Court that the plaintiffs not only invaded Labour Party’s National Secretariat, but also vandalised it against the existing court order.
Also, Ejesieme told the Court that since the order was made that his clients have not violated it.
They are challenging the jurisdiction of the Court to entertain a matter filed by Martins Esikpali John; Lucky Shaibu; Isah Zekeri; Omogbai Frank; Abokhaiu Aliu; Ayohkaire Lateef; John Elomah and Dr Ayobami Arabambi.
The plaintiffs are seeking the removal of the four respondents through an ex-parte motion, marked M/7082/2023, brought before the court.
