The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has hinted that his running mate will be a Northern Christian.
Tinubu, who stated this while addressing journalists at the end of the APC governorship rally in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, specifically said that no group, institution or person can impose a running mate on him.
He pointedly said that his running mate would be a Christian from the North East.
The announcement by the APC presidential candidate may have doused the tension that have been building up over the dicey and sensitive issue on a Muslim/Muslim ticket.
Tinubu said that the carriers of the rumour making the round of a possible Muslim/Muslim ticket were on their own, stressing promoters of such a consideration were undemocratic elements that are seriously threatened at his imminent victory in the coming presidential election.
In his words; “Consultations are yet to be concluded on who will be the running mate. I want to assure Nigerians that no group, institution or person could impose a running mate on me”.
