NAF Remains Committed To Securing Nigeria – CAS Abubakar
BY AUSTIN AJAYI, YOLA – The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has said that the main objective and focus of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is to remain committed to the unity of the nation and safeguarding its sovereignty.
Air Marshall, Sadique Abubakar, who stated this in Yola, the Adamawa State capital during a Christmas luncheon with troops in the North East region, emphasized that the unity of Nigeria remains the core mandate and top priority of the Force.
Represented by Air Vice Marshal Ayoola Jolasinmi, Director of Operations, NAF headquarters, Abubakar said; “Christmas celebration is all about sacrifice, as military professionals, our sacrifice for the unity of Nigeria is unmeasurable.
“Our cardinal objective and responsibility is ensuring the indivisibility of our dear country and ensure that Nigeria is safe. We are totally committed and willing to make sacrifices for the unity, peace, stability and development of our nation”.
Abubakar noted that NAF had contributed its quota in building internal security adding that it would not relent until the security of Nigeria and its citizens is guaranteed by ensuring the total elimination of insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality across the country.
The Chief of Air staff stressed that his vision remains to reposition the NAF as a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives for effectiveness and efficiency.
Abubakar assured of timely deployment of air power in response to Nigeria’s national security imperatives.
He further said; “As I speak to you, there are over 200 NAF personnel outside the shores of the country undergoing different forms of training and within the country, we have over 1000 personnel currently undergoing trainings in various facilities”.
The CAS said that the essence of the luncheon is to fill the vacuum created by officers not being able to celebrate with their families, because of dedication and sacrifice to their country.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the NAF with the resources and appreciated the support of the National Assembly committees on NAF.
