Suleiman lamented that Nigeria and Nigerians are currently going through hard times, particularly in terms of insecurity and therefore needs God to divinely intervene and make things right.
In a message to mark this year’s Christmas celebrations, he said all good Christians must reflect on their past lives and uphold the virtues and values preached by Jesus Christ.
The Speakers’ Conference Chairman, who is the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly (BSHA), urged the Christian community to use this festive period and pray fervently for a peaceful; secured; and a prosperous Nigeria.
Suleiman’s message, conveyed in a statement by Abdul Ahmad Burra, Spokesperson to the Speaker said; “Our country is at a trying moment; criminal activities, such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping are threatening our existence as a nation; our welfare and economy. As we are trying hard to end these menaces, then COVID-19 pandemic came. This has further worsened our predicaments.
“I therefore implore you to use this sacred period to pray and work together in ending these calamities that have befallen our nation, while also praying for peace, unity and brotherhood in the country.”
The Speakers Forum boss commended President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies for their selfless efforts at securing the nation and reviving its economy.
He however urged the President and security agencies to redouble their efforts and enhance stakeholding collaboration, especially with religious and community leaders, towards solving the nation’s many problems.
While applauding State Assembly Speakers and State Governors for working together to secure and develop their States, Suleiman appreciated Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad of Bauchi State for ensuring security and transformation of the State, especially on the areas of infrastructure, education and health, within this short period of time.
He therefore prayed that this year’s yuletide celebrations will stimulate more developments, peace and brotherhood in the country.
