Nasarawa APC Running Mate Saga, PDP In Secret Talks With Aggrieved Aspirants

BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has commenced secret talks with some aggrieved All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants who lost out at the party’s primary election.
The PDP is believed to have made the move following the internal wrangling tearing apart the APC particularly the disagreement between Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura and some major stakeholders over the unilateral nomination of Dr Emmanuel Akabe as the running mate to Engr AA Sule, who is the APC governorship flag bearer in the state.
Forefront News gathered that the meeting which has started yielded fruitful discussion has been reschedule for next week to enable the two parties digest some of the agreement reached and report back for action and implementation.
A dependable source disclosed that the meeting was at the instance of the APC aspirants who felt that Al-makura’s  “one man show” in the party affairs is uncalled for especially with the recent imposition of  Dr Emmanuel Akabe as running mate to Engr Abdullahi Sule.
The meeting which was held with selected representatives of the aspirants in Maitama-Abuja, agreed that the aspirants remain in APC while working for the success of the PDP in the forthcoming election.

The meeting which was attended by top PDP chieftains across the country, agreed in principle to refund all monetary expenses incurred by the APC aspirants in the course of their campaigns for the party’s primary election.
The boycott of the mega rally organised for A.A Sule held in Akwanga last Saturday by the aspirants and major stakeholders in the state was part of the resolutions agreed at the meeting as a major step to signal a major crack in the ranks of the APC in the state.
The PDP, it was also gathered, pledged to give the APC aspirants chances to produce some key officials in the state after the 2019 general elections.
The APC aspirants in return requested that the state PDP should equally support some of their aspirants in the 2019 general elections which will be tabled at the next meeting schedule for next week.
The choice of Dr Akabe as running mate to Engr AA Sule has generated serious crisis in the ranks of the APC in the state with A.A Sule denying knowledge of the how the nomination came about last week at a meeting with other aspirants and stakeholders in Abuja.
