Nasarawa LG Polls: Only Active APC Members Can Contest Primaries

BY AHMED TUKUR LAFIA – The Nasarawa State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) says only active party members and supporters will contest the primary election for the forthcoming October 6, 2021, Local Government Council election in the State.

Consequently, the guidelines released by the ruling Party indicate that only aspirants duly cleared by its relevant organs will be allowed to feature in the primary election.

The guidelines further stated that all aspirants must not only have a fair knowledge of APC’s manifesto but also sign the party’s code of conduct for the election.

“All aspirants must show knowledge of the party’s manifesto and programmes and must commit themselves to the full implementation of party’s goals and objectives”, the guidelines said.

Addressing a press conference on the party’s readiness for the Council’s poll, Acting State Chairman of APC, John Mamman said the sales of Nomination forms will commence on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at a cost of one million Naira (N1million) only for the Chairmanship position with the Expression of Interest (EOI) form going for Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) only.

The Party Chairman also said those vying for the councillorship positions will cough out Fifty Thousand Naira for Expression of Interest (EOI) while paying the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000) for each nomination form

He explained that party primaries will be conducted between Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22, July 2021 for the Councilor and Chairmanship seats.

Mamman however explained that “All the female and physically challenged aspirants are to pay fifty percent (50%) of all the fees” for the purchase of nomination and the EOI forms.

The Acting Chairman also said given the limited time to complete the process, the Party Secretariat will not be going on Sallah break.
