BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – While President Muhammadu Buhari is out of the country attending to some issues, the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), on Monday gave final notice for a looming strike in the Health sector.
JOHESU insisted that its planned strike would proceed on indefinite strike at midnight of April 17 except and until the Federal Government honours the terms of agreements which it entered with the Union at different fora since 2009 particularly the agreement reached on September 30, 2017.
The health Union further said all they have been paid so far is nothing but lip service six months after several failed promises by the Buhari administration.
The Union expressed concern saying that when its members embark on strike, the story would be the same nationwide as only patients with the means can afford to go to private hospitals, while the majority would be left with no other option than to take refuge in the various herbal and spiritual homes.
Forefront gathered that the laidback attitude of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government may have forced JOHESU to call out its members to embark on a nationwide strike by withdrawing their services.
