NCPC Airlifts About 150 Adamawa Pilgrims To Rome
BY REBECCA ALUKO, ABUJA – The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), has airlifted about 150 intending Pilgrims from Adamawa State to Rome through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
This is the first batch of intending Pilgrims to be airlifted to Rome.
Speaking on the airlift and pilgrimage to Rome, the Federal commissioner representing the North East on the NCPC Board, Rev. Jidda Gelengu, advised the Adamawa State intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of faith and should represent Nigeria and the Church well.
Gelengu also admonished the intending pilgrims to be law abiding and also fulfill all needed requirements.
He said the intending pilgrims will be airlifted in two batches to Rome with the Ethiopian Airline and Qatar Airways.
Also speaking, the Director of Mobilization, Mr Chris Udegbunam, described the journey as a sacred one, adding that intending pilgrims will experience and see some of the things the Holy Bible spoke about.
He made reference particularly to Paul the Apostle, who lived and taught in Rome.
Udegbunam also said that the intending Pilgrims would also visit the Papal were they are likely to have an audience with the Pope at the Vatican.
He explained that the Commission in its enabling Act is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating and organising Christian Pilgrimage activities in Nigeria to Holy sites around the world.
In his words; “As such, nobody or agency can perform Christian Pilgrimage without passing through the regulating and supervising body being the NCPC.
Udegbunam also said that the Executive Secretary, Rev. Yakubu Pam had gone ahead with some of the NCPC Team to ensure that all is in order to receive the intending pilgrims, saying that it is a sign of good leadership.
