Omo-Agege Lied On Relocation Of NGC Out Of Niger Delta – NNPC
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Sunday debunked claims by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege that the Corporation is planning to relocate the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC), headquarters from the Niger Delta region.
The NNPC pointedly described as false and misleading statement by Omo-Agege that it is planning to relocate the NGC from its present location in Delta State to somewhere outside the oil rich region.
A press statement issued by NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu further described as unfortunate statement credited to Omo-Agege.
The NNPC therefore called on the host communities of the Nigerian Gas Company and other stakeholders to disregard the relocation tale as told by Omo-Agege, stressing that the claims by the Deputy Senate President were totally false as he might have been misinformed or maybe quoted out of context.
The NNPC explained that the subject of relocation of the NGC was never on the table for deliberation by its management.
Ughamadu assured that the focus of the present management of the Corporation under the headship of Mallam Mele Kyari is to ensure harmonious relationship with stakeholders and host communities in such a way as to entrench a win-win scenario for all concerned.
Omo-Agege had said that he has passed the message that the Nigerian Gas Company cannot move but must remain in the Niger Delta.
In his words: “They must remain. And for those who have left, they must give a serious thought to relocating back to the Niger Delta,” the Deputy Senate President insist over the week-end.
