Operational Funds Excite Nigerian Troops – Army Chief
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has announced the release of funds to offset operational allowances and logistics for the 3rd Quarter of 2017 by the Federal Ministry of Defence.
General Buratai said the funds’ release will facilitate payment of outstanding operational allowances owed the troops in the last two months this week.
He said the Nigerian Army High Command under his leadership, will continue to remain responsible, responsive and accountable to troops’ operational requirements.Â
General Buratai, who stated this on Sunday in a letter containing a special message of assurance, encouragement and commendation to troops of the Nigerian Army engaged in various operations both within and outside the country, paid glowing tribute to the troops stationed outside the shores of Nigeria.Â
A statement by the Director of Public Relations, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Sani Usman quoted parts of the letter sent to various formations and corps Commanders as well as Commanders of the various training institutions of the Nigerian Army by Buratai, as specifically assuring the troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE of their welfare.
Usman said the COAS showered encomiums on the troops for the unflinching loyalty, perseverance, courage and dedication to duty which brought about the desired success in the fight against terrorism, insurgency and other criminal activities.Â
While thanking the troops for their patriotism, patience and understanding performance, the COAS promised to ensure as usual that all funds meant for the troops and Operation LAFIYA DOLE are paid promptly whenever they are received from the appropriate Federal ministries.Â
Buratai also commended the troops for their bravery, discipline and loyalty, even as he reminded them to always have confidence and trust on the Nigerian Army’s leadership and indeed the nation.
He urged the troops to sustain the high tempo of continuous flushing out the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are hibernating, including cyber terrorists.
