The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, on Wednesday April 20, 2022, said the husband of later singer Osinachi, Peter Nwachukwu will be charged to court as soon as it is established that he was responsible for her death.
This was as the IGP described the untimely death of singer Osinachi Nwachukwu as heart-breaking.

The police boss noted that this is more so, against the backdrop of information from sources close to the family and independent witnesses that fingered Peter Nwachukwu, as being responsible for her death.
The husband of the late singer, Peter Nwachukwu is presently in detention at the FCT Police Command while investigations are ongoing.
IGP Baba, who stated this when he received in audience the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, in his office at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, stressed that considering the sensitive nature of the case, and the need to get justice, and swiftly too, the FCT Police command approached the National Hospital, Abuja, for post-mortem examinations on late Osinachi to ascertain the cause of death.
IGP Baba therefore declared that the Force under his leadership remain committed to ensuring that cases of domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence, rape, and other social vices are accorded utmost attention.
He vowed that perpetrators of such crimes would be brought to justice according to the provisions of extant laws, adding that the FCT Command of the Force, in whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, arrested the deceased’s husband (Peter) at about 5pm on Sunday April 10, 2022 at their residence in Lugbe, Abuja.
The IGP noted that the alleged act is condemnable in all ramifications as it is both illegal and immoral for one human to take the life of another in any manner contrary to the provisions of the law.
Earlier, the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen discussed amongst other things, the plight of women in Nigeria, particularly in relation to gender and domestic-based violence, pointing out the recent case of the famous gospel musician, Osinachi Nwachukwu, whose untimely death at the hands of her husband on April 8, 2022 has caused public outcry.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the Minister, who was accompanied by some members of the late singer’s family, was equally interested in knowing what efforts the police have put in place to ensure that swift justice is dispensed.
