- Gets 150 delegates’ endorsement
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – It was jubilation galore for supporters and well-wishers of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his emergence as the Accord Party governorship candidate for the 2026 governorship election in the state.
On Wednesday, 10th December 2025, the governor, who was the sole aspirant in the party’s primary, secured 145 out of 150 delegate votes to pick the ticket as the Party’s flag-bearer in the forthcoming poll.
However, five of the votes cast were declared void during the counting.
Governor Adeleke joined the party on Tuesday evening after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing ongoing internal crisis as the ground for his resignation.
A breakdown of the 150 delegates indicated that each local government council area of the state produced five names each for the exercise.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, a statement issued by the Accord Screening Committee Chairman, Elder Ibe Thankgod, has said the governor was cleared as the sole candidate of the party.
According to Thankgod, who is also the party’s National Organising Secretary, said Governor Adeleke has fulfilled all the requisite requirements for nomination and participation at the primary.
The Committee Chairman then presented a certificate of clearance to the governor, hailing him as a worthy gubernatorial aspirant of the party.
In his response, Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation to the screening committee and the entire party leadership for the confidence repose in him.
Expressing his preparedness to lead the party to victory in 2026, the governor said: “I am ready for the primary and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace.”
