The Federal Government has assured that perpetrators of last Sunday’s ‘atrocious and mindless acts of violence’ at St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu in Anambra State will be brought to justice speedily.

Against the backdrop of sustained condemnations and sympathies from individuals and groups over the heinous crime, the government said the Police and all security agencies are on top of the case to rein in those behind the killings.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo gave the assurance on Monday in a statement by his media aide condemning what he described as ‘despicable acts of violence’ against innocent Nigerians.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Office of the Acting President, Laolu Akande said Professor Osinbajo continues to receive regular updates on the status of investigations regarding the Ozubulu tragedy where worshippers were brutally attacked with a number of innocent Nigerians killed and injured.

According to him, the Acting President remains in touch with the Anambra State Governor Willy Obiano, Police authorities and other security agencies, as all efforts are geared towards resolving the case and bringing the culprits to book quickly.

Akande stated that Professor Osibanjo commiserates with families, relatives, friends of the victims, the entire people and the government of Anambra State over the dastardly incident, assuring that all those involved would not go unpunished to serve as a deterrent to others with such monstrous appetite for criminality and wasting human lives.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police said in its custody already are some suspects allegedly involved in the killing 12 congregants at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu.

Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Nkiru Nwodo however said the Force is not in a hurry to parade the suspects as it requires adequate time to investigate the level of their complicity in the Ozubulu carnage and other related crimes in the area.
