The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded the Supreme Court over its ruling upholding the elections of Governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Darius Ishaku of Taraba.
The main opposition party said that the ruling was an inevitable validation of the wishes and aspiration of the people as expressed in the March 2019 governorship elections in the respective states.
The PDP’s commendation was contained in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan in Abuja on Wednesday.
It said: “The PDP observes that the ruling of the apex court is a victory for democracy and the triumph of the people over forces that sought to forcefully take over control of their states.
The Party Spokesman said the favorable court endorsements further place a burden on the governors to continue in their qualitative governance for which the people overwhelmingly re-elected them.
Ologbondiyan also urged the governors not to renege on their commitment to programmes aimed at empowering the people and reducing poverty level in the country.
The statement also told the governors as well as all other officials elected and appointed on the PDP’s platform that Nigerians across board were looking up to them for solutions to their problems.
Ologbondiyan maintained that Nigerians are also looking up to all elected officials on the PDP platform for direction in their overall efforts to move the nation forward. – NAN
