PDP NWC Moves Against Wike, Establishes South South Zonal Caretaker Committee
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a decisive decision to counter the moves by Mr Nyesom Wike in taking over the Party’s structures in the South South geo-political zone.
Accordingly, the PDP on Friday, March 7, 2025, approved the composition of the South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of the Party in the Zone from Monday, March 10, 2025.
The Party in a statement by Hon Debo Ologunagab, National Publicity Secretary, said the decision of the National Working Committee was pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).
The statement further said that the decision of the NWC was predicated on the need to avoid any vacuum and ensure the smooth running of the affairs of the Party in the South South Zone at the expiration of the tenure of the current Zonal Executive on Sunday, March 9, 2025
The PDP NWC said that the members of the South South Zonal Caretaker Committee included; Bro. Emma Ogidi -Chairman, while members of the Caretaker Committee are; Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa, Barr. Godwin Akpan Udonta, Mrs. Bekewei Ashanti, Idehen Ebomoyi, Dame Vivian Ahanmisi, with Chief Damiete Herbert-Miller as Secretary of the committee.
The PDP NWC said that the South South Zonal Caretaker Committee is to oversee the activities of the Party in the Zone for a period of three month or until when a new Zonal Executive is elected in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP.
The NWC enjoined all Party leaders, critical stakeholders and members of the PDP in the South South Zone to be guided by the composition of the Caretaker Committee and continue to work together in the overall interest of the Party in the Zone.
