…Announces revitalization of Taraku mills

Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has declared that he is ready to take all the insults and face gang ups, but would not be deterred.

This was as he assured of his determination to continue to turn around the fortunes of the state until it regains its true position amongst states in the country.

‎Alia, who stated this on Saturday, May 2, 2026, shortly after receiving the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) bought for him by the Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), said that he is aware that a reformer must face all forms of attacks, insults and deliberate efforts to deter progress, but said that he remains determined to overcome.

‎The pensioners were led by their chairman, Michael Vembe and the Benue Motorcycle Association (BEMOA) which was also led by their State President, Comrade Terfa Aha who pleaded with Governor Alia to contest for the 2027 governorship elections.

‎Governor Alia also announced plans for the revitalization of the Taraku Mills, describing the company as a critical component of his administration’s economic strategy, stressing that the move is aimed at restoring industrial activity, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the state’s agro-based economy.

‎‎Alia noted that the initiative formed part of broader efforts to reposition Benue State for sustainable growth, emphasizing that his government remains committed to policies that directly impact the lives of the mass majority of the citizenry.

‎While receiving the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 Governorship election purchased for him by the Benue State Chapter of BEMOA and Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Governor Alia expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in his leadership, and assured that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of citizens through purposeful governance and people-oriented projects.

‎‎The Governor highlighted key achievements of his administration, particularly the prompt payment of salaries and pensions, expansion of road infrastructure, and improvements in the health and education sectors, noting that these milestones reflect a deliberate commitment to responsible governance and inclusive development.

‎Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, the Governor stated that more developmental initiatives are underway, aimed at consolidating existing gains and expanding economic opportunities across the state.

‎Alia also acknowledged the support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in enhancing the security of lives and property, which he described as essential to the successful implementation of government policies and programmes in the State.

‎He reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Benue State and assured that his administration would remain focused on delivering tangible results that improve livelihoods and drive long-term development.

The Governor announced that he has written to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, for a meeting of the entire Benue APC family to blend and seek for a final resolve so as to go into the 2027 general elections with a united front.

‎Earlier in their separate remarks, the leaders of the two groups cited regular payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries, which they said, was hitherto not the case, construction of rural and township roads, provision of solar lights to enhance security at night amongst others, as the reasons Governor Alia must continue for a second term.
