Police Arrest Suspects Of Ozubulu Church Bloodbath

BY ALIJO SYLVESTER, ABUJA – The Nigerian Police on Monday said it has arrested some of the suspects alleged to have taken part in the killing of 12 congregation members of St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu in Anambra State.

The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Nkiru Nwodo, who announced this however said the Force is not in a hurry to parade the suspects.

Nwodo explained that the Police needed enough time to investigate the level of complicity of the suspects in the massacre that took place in Ozubulu and possible other crimes.

Governor Willie Obiano, who rushed to the scene of the deadly attack on Sunday, assured a detailed probe into the ugly incident would be carried out, stressing that perpetrators of the heinous crime would be fished out and brought to face the wrath of the law.

Commenting on the incident, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar on Sunday said the dare devil gunmen found their way into the church and opened fire at innocent worshippers that had gone for early morning Mass.

Umar also said the attack might not be unconnected with a drug related gang war between some indigenes of the town that started in South Africa.
