The Nigeria Police and a Nigerian legal firm, Bastion Chambers, on Monday commenced a two-day training of no fewer than 80 police personnel on prosecution and investigation.

Declaring the training open, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, who was represented by Mr Emmanuel Inyang, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training at the Force Headquarters, said the training would enhance the efficiency of police prosecutors and investigators.

He called on participants in the training programme to transfer the knowledge acquired in the workshop to other officers in their units, adding, “You are all expected to transfer the knowledge acquired from this workshop to other officers under you.”

The police boss said that the force was working so hard to ensure it implements its cardinal objectives under Section 4 of the Police Act in order to change the outlook of the force.

According to IGP Idris, “We also believe that training and development are required to enable staff to work toward taking the organisation to its expected destination”.

Mr Mohamed Nakordi, a representative of Bastion Chambers, said that the training was aimed at addressing the challenges faced by the police in criminal prosecution, just as he said the training was meant for 40 police prosecutors and 40 investigators.

According to him, “We are training these officers so that they can as well train others under them in their various commands and units.”
