Professional Group Condemns Abduction Of Southern Kaduna Monarch
The Association of Ikulu Professionals (AIP) on Thursday condemned the abduction of His Royal Highness, Agwom Akulu, Yohanna Sidi Kukah, describing the action as “unwarranted and unprovoked” attack on the Ikulu nation and people.
In a statement signed by the President and Secretary General of the association, Stephen Josiah Yohanna and Dr Mamman Paul Habila, the professionals called on both the federal and state governments to spare no efforts in ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped monarch.
Describing the kidnapped monarch as a man of peace, the group said, “the Ikulu Nation deserves encomium and commendations from Nigerians and every global peace-loving citizen for the relative tranquility among the inhabitants of Ikulu Land from time immemorial. This has been achieved because of our peaceful disposition inherited from our ancestors, as clearly demonstrated by the reign of HRH Agwom Akulu whose wisdom accommodates all shades of opinions of citizens irrespective of tribe, creed or religion.”
Considering the role of the abducted monarch that should attract accolades, commendation from all men and women of good will, the professionals called on “the Federal Government to review the security architecture in Kaduna state, particularly in Southern Kaduna by “creating a Police Area Command Office in Kachia, Kachia LGA; establish more Divisional Police Headquarters at Kamuru Ikulu, Crossing – Kurmin Biri, including relevant towns in Southern Kaduna in order to bring security closer to the citizenry.
The AIP also called on the Federal Government to ensure adequate protection of life and property in the area and punish promoters and perpetrators of crimes and subsequent rehabilitation of victims to make the society better.
On the part of the Kaduna State Government, the association called for policies and programmes that will promote the peaceful coexistence of the citizenry irrespective of tribe, creed or religion.
The professionals also called for creation of “jobs opportunities for the teeming youths in the area, including construction of good roads network, hospitals and schools to control the perennial menace of crimes in the area.
Other demands include synergizing with “the FG to ensure the safety and unconditional release of the abducted Agwom Akulu.
Finally, the AIP called on citizens to be vigilant at all times and report suspicious person or group of persons to the police and other security agencies for prompt action.
