Ramadan: Islamic Group Donates Items To Correctional Service Inmates, Hospitals In Nasarawa

BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The Islamic Society of Eggon-land in Nasarawa State has donated food items to inmates of Correctional Service, Wamba and hospitals in Nasarawa North senatorial district.

Donating the items on behalf of the organization, the Secretary, Abdullahi Umar-Galle, said the kind gesture was part of its social responsibility to the community.

Mallam Umar said the food items are meant to assist patients and inmates during this period of Ramadan.

According to him, the donation is an annual event by the organization to identify with the needy and urged those in places of authority as well as wealthy individuals in the society to show love to people during this period.

At the Wamba Correctional Service, Mallam Umar said; “The prison is not the end of life but God has a reason for you to be here, pray that He comes to your assistance in this auspicious period of Ramadan.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the Correctional Service, Officer-in-Charge, Sidi Shuaib thanked the organization, noting that the items will go along way in assisting the inmates.

At Akwanga General Hospital, Dr Gonji Thomas, who received the visitors, noted that the organization was the first in recent times to offer such assistance to the patients.

Health facilities visited include Akwanga General Hospital and Nasarawa-Eggon General Hospital among others

Items donated by the organisation include bags of rice, groundnut oil, beverages, bottle water, cartons of dried fish, bags of maize and sugar
