BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Monday had a change of mind over a congratulatory message he issued on the 60th birthday of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Saraki’s later statement with the title; “STOP PRESS, PLEASE DISREGARD STATEMENT ON JONATHAN” was e-mailed to journalists by his Chief Press Secretary.

The statement further reads: “Dear colleagues/Editor, please kindly DISREGARD the statement congratulating ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on his 60th birthday. Thanks. CPS.”

Before the “STOP PRESS,” Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, had extolled the ex-president’s contribution to the progress of democracy and overall development of the country.

Saraki equally described Jonathan as a leader whose decision to peacefully exit power, following the results of the 2015 presidential election, would remain indelible in the annals of the country.

He had, therefore, prayed that Almighty God should grant former President Jonathan excellent health to serve mankind for many more years.
